600Kg – The current UK situation for member’s information. The CAA has put into place a program to consider whether the UK should take the opportunity to regulate factory built aircraft with a MTOM of up to 600Kg and if so how this is to be achieved. The BMAA’s position is that the opportunity should be used to review the current microlight definition with a view to redefining at a higher MTOM, primarily to provide for a higher payload that might be used for more fuel and heavier occupants. The CAA has set up meeting dates for discussions to begin with interested parties. The program is due to deliver an outcome in November 2019.
